Databoxes are a secure and modern way to communicate with the Government. Moreover, from 1 January 2023, they are legally obligatory for natural and legal persons doing business. Natural persons can set up a databox on a voluntary basis. Many people are unnecessarily afraid of data boxes because they fear that they will not hear about new messages, which are deemed to have been delivered after the 10-day period has elapsed and the legal deadlines start to apply. Everything has a solution. In this case, notifications that can be sent to your email or SMS will help. We send notifications or alerts free of charge.

Is this service available in the app?

This service is available on the Citizen's Portal mobile app, so you can use it directly.

What you need

  • Databox connected to the Citizen Portal
  • Be a citizen of the Czech Republic or a foreigner with a residence permit in the Czech Republic
  • Have your contact details set up in the Citizen Portal

How to do it

Just go to the data box settings in the Citizen Portal, click on the data box for which you want to activate notifications.

Under the archiving switch, you will find the sentence "To be notified of incoming data messages, set up notifications: set up".

Click on "Set up" and fill in the necessary information to send notifications.

What to be aware of

If you activate the function of forwarding data messages to your e-mail, pay special attention to the legal deadlines. This feature will cause forwarded messages to be considered delivered and therefore read. This includes messages that normally have a 10-day delivery period.
