Sending data messages
It is an electronic mailbox, similar to an e-mail. Because you log in to the databox system using a verified identity, the recipient is sure that everything you send via the databox is really sent by you. With a databox, you can send documents to authorities or companies digitally from the comfort of your home, and receive them digitally as well. In addition, you do not need an e-signature, which you would otherwise have to arrange and pay for. The authorities will look at a document sent by databox in the same way as if you had signed it in person.
What you need
- Have a databox
- Have a databox connected in the Citizen Portal
- Be a citizen of the Czech Republic or a foreigner with a residence permit
How to do it
Log in to the Citizen Portal and click on the Databox tab in the top right corner of the page. This will open a page where you can find your connected databox or multiple connected databoxes. In the left corner, above the list of connected databoxes, click on "New message".
You will then see a blank New Message form on the right-hand side. The following three fields marked with an star are mandatory, you cannot send the message without filling them in.
From the "From" field, select the databox from which you want to send the message. In the "To" field, enter the databox ID of the subject to whom you want to send the message. You can also search for it by typing its name in the box, e.g. Railway Authority.
In the "Subject" field, as with the e-mail, write what the message is about, e.g. Request for a decision on a change of land use.
For example, click on "Upload attachment from device" to add an application you have written. Attachments in all common formats such as pdf, doc, jpg, html etc. can be sent via the databox.
The "Add additional message details" button can help you to further specify the message. You can add a file label or write the name of the person to whom the message should be delivered.
You can add text in the editor below, or write text that you do not want to send as an attachment.
What to be aware of
Data messages sent to authorities, ministries, in short, public administration institutions are completely free of charge for you. But if you want to send a data message to a private entity, you have to pay a fee. These data messages are charged according to the Czech Post price list.
